It’s been just over 30 days since I created Trying Trad and posted my welcome rant! So what have I accomplished so far? Well, let me look back on my priorities…
- Devotional/quiet time with God – Yes!
I’m so glad to be able to say that I’m on track with this goal. I may not be where I want to be, but it’s better than where I was! Most importantly, I don’t rush my mornings like I used to. I savor my morning, sit down for a real breakfast, drink a tea, and start with a little relaxation most mornings. I spend some time with God first thing in the morning. An unexpected gift from a friend helped with this one too, by giving me a daily devotional. It’s helped!
- Making sure my husband and dogs get more time with me than they used to – Meh.
My husband gets more time with me these days, but the dogs don’t get as much of my time as they did in the summer of 2020 (which is my ideal comparison – I used to take them out for walks or play time most days!) There’s my next thing to work on!
- Keep homemaking priorities in check (clean house, finances on track, meals ready)
Meals ready? Yes, and it’s a noticeable improvement. Finances on track? Yes, so far. Clean house? Well, it’s better than it’s been! I’ve been mostly able to keep everything a daily kind of tidy/clean, but what I’m struggling with is deeper cleans. Those are getting knocked out much more slowly than I hoped.
- Doing what I can to keep our businesses running well (including my own work and helping my husband’s business)
Yes, though only to the extent of getting done what really needs to get done each day. There are some other work goals I’m trying to hit, but I’m trying to prioritize the clean house and ready meals.
- Then in my free time learning and practicing more traditional skills (baking, sewing, knitting, gardening, etc.)
This is where I’m falling behind, which is why I need to get on here more! The rest are absolute MUSTS, so they get priority.
All-in-all, I’m living life closer to what I was hoping for. Mulling it over now, I’m meeting my goals where I’m organized (like having meals ready – I have a meal calendar!) I need to develop a better overall schedule that suits these goals, and I’ll be working on that. Stay tuned!
