The hope in writing this blog is to help me stick to my goals in this “trying trad” lifestyle project. My current plan: work on one project per day, whether that’s a skill that I’m learning, or a house project I’m taking on as a homemaker.
These are all mini-goals to help me take real steps towards some bigger life goals. My current big homemaker goal is for my house to look how I want it to, and my traditional skill goal is to make it through one entire month on meals that I prepare from scratch.
I’ll keep my homemaker and skill goal lists published, and I’ll make posts about getting through them. I’ll keep the lists short so that I’ll actually finish the high priorities. As I go throughout the house and notice new goals or projects, I’ll add them once I finish others.
Home projects:
- Organize desk
- Install a bottom curtain rod on our porch door
- Dust wood trim in the stairwell
- (I don’t want to think too long on this, so that the list doesn’t get a mile long right off the bat. I notice new projects as I go about the house, so I’ll add those as I notice them.)
Traditional skill goals:
- Split a single-panel drape into a double-panel (Sewing)
- Learn how to successfully and repeatably bake southern biscuits (Baking)
- Successfully and repeatably convert new biscuit baking skill into Husband’s-diet-friendly-version (Baking)
- Learn how to successfully and repeatably bake a friend’s garlic bread recipe (Baking)
- Successfully and repeatably convert new garlic bread baking skill into Husband’s-diet-friendly-version (Baking)
(Yes, I realize my baking plans be slow and tedious… But I want to make sure I like the “normal” recipe first before I edit the ingredients.)
